Chart 8: Miscellaneous

Two more short correlation tables: Howard Gardner's four-wave model of development overlaid on the familiar basic-structures spine, and a separate table correlating stages of art (Wilber's own scheme) with Melvin Miller's teleological/ateleological/ antiteleological worldview types.

Transcribed and cross-checked against the source page images (library/2000-integral-psychology-images/00048.jpg-00049.jpg); draft, not yet independently verified by a second pass.

Universal waves of development (Gardner)

Gardner's own model only subdivides into four broad waves in the source, not row-for-row against the full basic-structures spine — presented here at Gardner's own resolution rather than forcing a false precision. The rough correspondence to the basic-structures spine (following the general precon/con/postcon/post-postcon mapping used throughout the book — see Chart 1's fulcrum table) is: preconventional ≈ sensorimotor through rep-mind, conventional ≈ conop, postconventional ≈ formop/postformal, post-postconventional ≈ the transpersonal waves.

WaveSub-stages (Gardner)
PreconventionalEvent structuring, analog mapping, digital mapping, notational systems, symbolic flowering
ConventionalRules/regulations, skill mastery
PostconventionalSelf-critical, relativism
Post-postconventionalIntegration of self and culture
